It’s Complicated

This week’s YouTube video post (Season 2 Episode 27 which drops on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2021) was about families of loved ones who are medically complex.

I hate to admit it, but this was one of the hardest episodes for me. I guess because I work hard to help others see that positivity is important to us.

But Joe’s recovery from this proximal femoral resection surgery has been T-O-U-G-H. In this episode I share some things about our lives that I don’t really like to share. Particularly about “Chronic Sorrow”, which even sounds like the opposite of “Self Determined” to my advocacy ears.

The truth is that I am exhausted right now. And I guess I felt like it was time to honor our struggles and help others see families like mine.

Here are two good articles about complex medical kids and families:

This is a journalism website I stumbled across: The Conversation – Parents of Medically Fragile Kids Could Use Help- Understanding Year Round

And then, one of my favorite sites, The Mighty – 28 Things Parents of Medically Complex Kids Want You to Know
